Super Science Jr. is coming to Kiddie Academy!

Mr. Kilbane is bringing his favorite STEM classes designed for your little scientist this fall.   Mr. Kilbane is a local veteran science teacher that has been working with all ages for more than two decades.  

Digging Dinosaurs:  Your Jr. Paleontologist will learn all about the three families of dinosaurs.  Get your hands on real fossils including dinosaur bones.  Go on a simulated Dino dig and make a T-rex tooth to take home.

Bubbles!:  How do bubbles make all those beguiling colors?  What shapes can bubbles make?  Students will make their own bubble wand to take home.  Your Jr. Scientist might just find themselves inside a bubble.

Bugs:  We will explore the amazing arthropods that make up the bugs we find all around us.  How are insects, arachnids, myriapods and isopods are the same and different. We will discover how bugs use camouflage to hide in plain sight and mimicry to confuse predators.   We will use what we learn to build our own bug to take home. 

Rocket Science:  3.. 2.. 1.. Blast off!  We will explore how Newton's laws of motion make rockets fly.  Your jr. astronaut will learn about the parts of a model rocket and will take home their own squeeze rocket.   

Our Solar System:  Take a wild ride through our own solar system.  We will learn about the planets, dwarf planets, asteroids, comets,  moons and much more that make up our solar system.  We will even make our own planet to take home.

Aerial inventions:  In this class we channel your jr. engineers own curiosity to learn about the design cycle.  We will use my vertically mounted wind tunnel, called a wind tube to invent our own flying machines and send them soaring towards the ceiling.  

Awesome Animals:  We will learn about our favorite mammals, arthropods, amphibians, reptiles and much more.  You will learn how biologists have organized all the amazing animals in a tree of life.  Discover how animals use camouflage or crypsis to hide from predators or prey.  Learn how animals use teeth, shells, claws and even their hair to defend themselves.  We will learn how animal tracks tell a story and make our own cast of an animal track to take home.

Air Power:  Feel the power of the air around you with a table full of hands-on experiments.  Make a cloud in a bottle and experiment with a mini hovercraft.  Use a bell jar to see how sound changes when there is no air and make a monster marshmallow.  Learn how to use Bernoulli’s law  and a hair dryer to make a ball float in mid air!  We will make our own DYI hovercraft to take home.
